Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about connector cross reference, replacement evaluation, interface compatibility and obsolete-part sourcing.
Can you cross-reference a connector from only a part number?
Yes. A complete manufacturer part number is the best starting point for a cross-reference review. If available, also provide the mating connector number, quantity, application and any existing datasheet or drawing so the interface and performance requirements can be checked more accurately.
Can you identify a connector from a photo?
Photos can help identify the likely connector family or interface. For the best result, provide clear images of the mating face, rear termination, shell or housing, mounting features and any visible markings. Final compatibility should still be confirmed against dimensions and technical requirements.
Can you replace a connector from another manufacturer?
Yes. We can evaluate an existing manufacturer part number, drawing, datasheet or mating interface against suitable SINOCONNECTORS product directions. Final compatibility depends on the interface, dimensions, contact arrangement, keying, mounting, termination and required performance.
Can you replace an obsolete or hard-to-source connector?
Yes. Obsolete, discontinued or long-lead-time connectors can be reviewed for an existing standard alternative, modified standard product, cable-assembly solution or custom replacement depending on the original interface and application requirements.
Can you provide an exact drop-in replacement?
A drop-in replacement may be possible, but it cannot be confirmed from appearance or series name alone. The mating interface, shell or housing dimensions, contact arrangement, keying, mounting, termination and electrical and environmental performance must all be checked before confirming interchangeability.
Can you match an existing PCB footprint?
PCB compatibility can be evaluated when you provide the board drawing, footprint dimensions, pin spacing, mounting-hole layout, board thickness and connector orientation. A similar connector may still require PCB changes if these dimensions do not match.
Can you match my existing mating connector?
Yes. Please provide the mating connector part number or a detailed mating-interface drawing. Keying, contact gender, insert arrangement, coupling geometry and mating depth should be confirmed before a replacement is approved.
Can I keep my existing cable and replace only the connector?
This depends on the existing cable construction and termination. Cable outside diameter, conductor size, shielding, insulation, contact termination method and rear-accessory compatibility should be reviewed before confirming whether the existing cable can be reused.
Can you provide a complete replacement cable assembly?
Yes. Replacement projects can be extended into complete cable assemblies including connectors, contacts, cable, pin assignment, shielding, rear accessories, strain relief, sealing, labeling and electrical testing.
Can you cross-reference waterproof, marine or subsea connectors?
Yes. Waterproof and subsea replacement directions can be evaluated. Please provide water depth or pressure, wet-mate or dry-mate requirement, cable type, sealing method, corrosion conditions and any material or environmental requirements.
Can you cross-reference high-current or high-voltage connectors?
Yes. Please provide the working voltage, continuous and peak current, contact configuration, cable gauge, insulation requirements, operating temperature and environmental conditions. Electrical compatibility should be reviewed together with the mechanical interface.
Can you replace high-speed, RF or fiber-optic connectors?
Selected product architectures support high-speed differential, RF / coaxial, data-bus and optical transmission. For these projects, include the data rate, frequency, impedance, cable or fiber type, shielding and signal-integrity requirements whenever available.
Is a connector compatible if the dimensions look the same?
Not necessarily. Similar dimensions do not confirm compatibility. Two connectors may differ in keying, insert arrangement, contact size, mating depth, electrical rating, material, sealing or qualification. A complete engineering review is recommended before replacement.
What information gives the fastest replacement review?
The fastest review usually includes the full existing part number, manufacturer, mating part number, datasheet or drawing, clear photos, required quantity and application. Electrical, mechanical and environmental requirements are especially important when the original documentation is incomplete.
Can I send multiple part numbers in one request?
Yes. You can send a BOM, spreadsheet or list of multiple part numbers for review. When possible, include the manufacturer, quantity, mating part number and application for each item so the replacement requirements can be evaluated more efficiently.
